Sergio Aguero has struck a multi-year brand ambassadorial partnership with Stake, as the crypto casino and sports betting platform strengthens its ties to the global sporting ecosystem further still.
The former Manchester City and Argentina striker joins the company as its latest global representative through to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and beyond.
As a result of the agreement, the group says that fans can look forward to Aguero working across a range of initiatives, including the creation of exclusive content, promotions and VIP guest packages.
Mladen Vuckovic, CEO of Stake, commented: “As the January transfer window draws to a close, we’re delighted to announce the signing of Sergio Aguero as our new team star.
“Sergio’s legacy speaks for itself and he is the perfect fit for us as we continue to expand Stake.com’s global presence.
“We look forward to welcoming Sergio’s fans around the world into the Stake.com community as we celebrate this exciting World Cup year with one of the true icons of the game.”
Aguero is Manchester City’s all-time leading scorer with 260 goals during a spell which saw the former Atletico Madrid man win five Premier League titles amid a decade-long association with the Etihad Stadium-based side.
He also boasts over 100 international caps for Argentina, including an Olympic gold medal, as well as a triumph in the 2021 Copa America.
“I’m delighted to be working with Stake.com and joining their exciting team,” Aguero noted.
“I’ve watched on with interest as they have become more involved in football and Stake’s ambitions very closely match my own as I move into a new phase of my post-playing career.
“I can’t wait to get started on all the exciting initiatives we have planned for fans as we build up to the World Cup later this year.”
The goalscoring legend, and esports investor, who retired in December 2021 due to a heart condition, joins Stake’s team alongside UFC superstars Francis Ngannou and Israel Adesanya, and extends the group’s football sponsorship portfolio, which includes a club-record partnership with Watford FC as shirt sponsors for the 2021/22 season.
